Hello all! Just  a gentle reminder to get ready your proposals for  talks, papers, workshops, panels, film screenings and whatever-you-want, for this November 9! The TECHNE 2017 conference is shaping up to be a very creative and exciting event and we still want your input. It is a great opportunity to share your work in progress or test out your ideas, as well as be exposed to new ones outside your own research. As you may know, this year’s conference “Emotion, Engagement, Experience” is all about the passion of the researcher for the work, and the ways we can communicate that to the wider world as well as within academia. The deadline is approaching – this Friday 22 September. Please send us your proposals  (max 300 words) to techne.conf2017@gmail.com and the website has more information http://techne2017.blogspot.co.uk/p/call-for-projects.html Looking forward to hearing from you!

Summer Creativity!

It was great to see all of the TECHNE cohort (or most of it!) at the 2017 Summer Congress. As summer is now really upon us, it is a good time to think about the work you've done this year and what part of it you might like to present to the rest of us - and others - at the autumn Conference this November You should have all received the Call for Proposals email, but all the details are right here on this website.  For those who want to participate in the conference, but do not want to give a paper, do not forget there are many more possibilities. You can propose a workshop or performance, screen a film or an audio-visual essay, create an installation (with the agreement of the venue). Let's be creative! One exciting development is that this year we will partner with the TECHNE journal Logios who will publish submissions from the conference proceedings.  This is a very good opportunity to publish in a peer reviewed online journal. We will keep you updated via the

Novelist Elif Şafak said recently that, in order to understand what is going on in the world at the moment, "we need to talk about emotions. Emotions in general have been underestimated." “Emotion, Engagement and Experience” describe the researcher’s journey. Techne 2017 will explore these through academic papers, performances and film. What is the researcher’s emotional attachment to the work? How do passions and emotions frame scholarship? How does the researcher’s engagement with the world   of scholarship sit alongside the responsibility to the wider world? Where does the researcher’s own wealth of experience fit into the PhD? Where does the ECR 'fit'?  How do we exchange and disseminate all of these ideas we've got? The Conference Theme “Engagement, Emotion, Experience” is the theme of this year’s TECHNE conference. These three words describe the researcher’s position. We are interested in the complex relationships between scholarship and acade
